One of the many beautiful areas in the town of Wheaton is Adams Park. Located in the center of Downtown Wheaton, and directly next to the Public Library, this park is enjoyed by many since 1956. While many take a stroll down its paths, or take homecoming pictures in front of the fountain, almost all are unaware of this parks historical significance. The United State’s sixth president, John Quincy Adams, son of John Adams, the second president, owned a house that stood in the middle of what we see as Adams Park today. The house was built in the 1800s but was demolished in 1943. Adams daughter, Catherine Adams Wells, donated the land to the city of Wheaton in memory of her father for the use of a park. The fountain that is seen in the middle of the park was a part of the original design. Not only is this a beautiful location to be with nature, you are also able to be more connected to the rich history that this location has in our wonderful city.
